Harbour

Pwllheli’s harbour has given the town a major boost thanks to the construction of a smart 400-boat marina, the biggest and most modern in Wales, which gives easy access to the superb sailing waters of Cardigan Bay and the Irish Sea. Boat trips from the marina will take you on a cruise through waters with a rich wildlife that includes seals, seabirds and dolphins (contact the Tourist Information Centre for more details).

Cynan

Pwllheli is the birthplace of the famous Welsh Poet Albert Evans-Jones, or Cynan as he was better known.

Beaches

Visitors have the choice of two beaches. The promenade-lined southern beach, which leads all the way to Llanbedrog, has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag. At the other side of the harbour, Glân-y-môr runs eastwards for three miles to the Pen-y-chain headland.

Market Town

Every Wednesday Pwllheli really comes alive when it holds one of the busiest markets in Britain, a tradition that dates back to 1355.
